How to install an eSIM on Android
Install a travel eSIM on an Android phone with its QR code or activation code, then select it for mobile data and roaming.
Android menus differ between manufacturers and versions. The steps below cover the most common layouts, on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones.
Before you begin
Use a stable Wi-Fi connection, because the eSIM downloads over the internet.
Make sure your phone supports eSIM and is not locked to one carrier. See Is my phone eSIM compatible?
Show the QR code on another screen or print it.
Samsung Galaxy
Open Settings and tap Connections.
Tap SIM manager (on some models, SIM card manager).
Tap Add eSIM and choose to scan a QR code from your service provider.
Scan the code and confirm to add the plan.
Google Pixel and most other Android phones
Open Settings and tap Network & internet.
Tap SIMs, then Add SIM or the plus button.
Choose to download an eSIM and scan the QR code.
Confirm the download and wait until the new line appears in the list.
No QR code scanner?
Look for an option such as Enter code instead or Need help? on the scanning screen, and type the activation code that came with your eSIM exactly as written.
Get ready for your trip
In SIM manager or SIMs, choose the travel eSIM for mobile data.
Turn on Roaming for the travel eSIM when you arrive.
Keep your usual SIM for calls and texts, or switch it off to avoid roaming charges.
