About Amazon verification
Amazon asks for a mobile number on many of its stores and confirms it with a one-time password before you can finish creating an account; sellers are asked to verify a phone as well. Each Amazon store is regional, so choose a number from a country that the store you're signing up on accepts, then request the OTP immediately.
Amazon also uses your phone for two-step verification and delivery updates. After signing up, set up an authenticator app for two-step verification and add a phone you keep for deliveries. For long-lived business accounts such as Seller Central or AWS, always use contact details you control permanently, because a verification number cannot receive messages after the activation ends. Follow Amazon's Conditions of Use.
Amazon verification FAQ
Which country should I choose for Amazon?
Use a country the specific Amazon store accepts — usually the store's own country, such as Germany for amazon.de.
Is this suitable for an Amazon seller account?
Only for the initial code. Seller accounts go through identity checks and need contact details you keep, so add your own number as soon as possible.
The OTP expired before I entered it. What can I do?
Ask Amazon to resend it while your number is still active; you can request another SMS from the activation page.
