About Facebook verification
Facebook asks new users to confirm a mobile number or an email address, and may request a phone confirmation again when it notices an unusual login. The confirmation text usually starts with "FB-" followed by a numeric code. Start the activation only when you are ready to type the number into Facebook, then enter the code shown on your activation page.
Facebook's policies expect people to use the name they go by in everyday life and to keep a single personal account. Once the account is confirmed, open Accounts Center and add an email address and an authenticator app for two-factor authentication, because the verification number will not be available for future security checks or password resets.

What does the Facebook code look like?
It usually reads "FB-" followed by digits. Enter only the digits unless the form asks for the whole code.
Facebook wants to confirm my identity with a photo. Can a number help?
No. Identity or selfie checks are separate from the SMS confirmation and must be completed by you.
Can I change the phone number later?
Yes. In Accounts Center, under Personal details › Contact info, add your own number and remove this one.
