About Instagram verification
Instagram lets you sign up with an email address or a mobile number, and it can also ask you to confirm a phone number later as a security check. Either way it texts a six-digit confirmation code. Paste the number into Instagram right after it appears and type the code from your activation page before Instagram's own timer runs out.
Instagram and Facebook share Meta's Accounts Center, so security settings carry across both apps. After signing up, add an email address you own and turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app: a verification number covers this one confirmation and won't receive future login codes. Running fake or automated accounts is against Instagram's Terms of Use.
