About X (Twitter) verification
X, formerly Twitter, can ask for a phone number when you create an account or when it temporarily locks an account and wants to confirm the person behind it. It texts a short verification code. Paste the number into X right after it is issued and enter the code before X's prompt expires.
X offers text-message two-factor authentication only to X Premium subscribers, so for most accounts the better choice is an authenticator app or a security key — set one up after verifying. A verification number expires after the activation window and cannot be used to recover your account. Platform manipulation and spam are against the X Rules.
X (Twitter) verification FAQ
Is this number used for two-factor authentication?
No. It only receives the verification code now. Use an authentication app or a security key for 2FA.
X locked my account and asks for a phone number. Will this work?
It can satisfy the phone check on your own account, but X may ask for further verification. Following the X Rules is the only way to avoid repeat locks.
Which countries work best for X?
X texts most countries. Choose one with good stock and a strong success rate in the list.
