About Signal verification
Signal, the end-to-end encrypted messenger run by the non-profit Signal Foundation, registers each account with a phone number and a code sent by SMS or voice call. Request the SMS code right after the number appears and enter it in the app. Signal usernames let you chat without handing out your number.
Turn on Registration Lock and set a Signal PIN straight away: without it, whoever receives this number later could register it on Signal, while with it re-registering requires your PIN. Also set "Who can find me by number" to Nobody and share your username instead. Signal's terms prohibit spam and unlawful use.
